[GC 2026] 1001 Threads of Mizan: 1,001 Nights, a Co-op Fantasy Adventure [VIDEO]

What’s more, if you happen to be in the area, you can try out MCB Game Studio’s game in pre-alpha at Gamescom.

It is a one-to-three-person cooperative action adventure set in a sprawling Arabian fantasy world. Players can soar across mythical landscapes on agile flying carpets, battle colossal jinn towering above the world and unravel a tale of betrayal that threatens to tear the world apart. Drawing inspiration from One Thousand and One Nights, it offers a shared journey where exploration, combat and storytelling are seamlessly interwoven to create an unforgettable experience. Share the adventure with fellow warriors or take on the challenge alone. Choose from three heroes with distinct yet balanced styles, and fight to protect the balance between realms.

Face colossal jinn enemies and harness the power of your flying carpet to manoeuvre through combat. Traversal and combat are inseparable, letting you soar, dive and strike with fluid motion and testing your skill as you work together to stop the jinn incursion. Aid the legendary storyteller Shahrazad as she strives to protect humanity from the jinn threat, unearthing the knowledge of the Mizan in the process to rediscover powerful ancient technology from a civilisation lost to sand and myth.

"We’re incredibly proud to announce 1001 Threads of Mizan, a true labour of love inspired by the rich Arabic folklore of One Thousand and One Nights and beyond. With fast-paced traversal combining grounded and aerial mastery, colossal combat against large-scale jinn creatures, and immersive exploration, this game is designed to capture the beauty and spirit of these timeless stories in a heroic gameplay experience that can be enjoyed with friends," wrote Daniel Engelhardt, CEO of MBC Game Studio, in the press release.

"Our vision started with a simple question: what if you could experience an expansive adventure in the grand tradition of single-player epics, but fully cooperatively with your friends?” Inspired by the generation of players who grew up in shared, social worlds, with 1001 Threads of Mizan we are bringing that sense of connection to the fast-paced, combat-driven gameplay experience that we believe cooperative players will expect as they discover the depth of this incredible folklore, which combines fantasy with rich history and culture," said creative director Lars Bonde.

The game, developed by MCB Game Studio — a new studio led by CEO Daniel Engelhardt and COO Trevor Williams, with a global team drawn from renowned studios such as BioWare, Hi-Rez Studios, Ubisoft Montreal and Bungie — is in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Its release date has not yet been announced.
