Grand Theft Auto VI’s main story could reportedly take around 80 hours to complete. If the estimate holds, Jason and Lucia’s adventure would comfortably surpass Rockstar Games’ previous campaign records.
Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson discussed the scale of Grand Theft Auto VI in an interview with The New York Times. According to Nelson, his playthrough took roughly 80 hours to finish the main story together with several optional, branching narrative objectives.
That figure would represent a substantial leap over Rockstar’s earlier releases. The central campaign in Grand Theft Auto V can be completed in about 30 hours and rises to around 50 with side content, while Red Dead Redemption 2 usually takes about 50 hours for the story and can exceed 80 with additional activities.
The reported 80 hours may not account for everything Leonida has to offer. Exploration, side activities and other optional storylines could push a thorough playthrough toward or beyond the 100-hour mark.
It is worth stressing that this is the experience of one developer’s playthrough rather than a universal, finalized completion-time figure. A player’s pace, mission choices and time spent roaming the open world will inevitably affect the total.
If the estimate remains accurate at launch, GTA 6 may set a new Rockstar Games benchmark not only for world-building and technology, but also for the sheer scale of its narrative.
