TECH NEWS – It appears that Nvidia’s technology can be used on AMD hardware with some adjustments. This is unusual because it works out of the box on AMD hardware but requires adjustments on Nvidia hardware.
In addition to its official launch in NBA 2K27, we’ve seen that DLSS 5 has been unofficially implemented in several other games over the past few days. Modders and fans alike have managed to get the DLSS 5 Neural Rendering feature to work on older RTX graphics cards as well. Nvidia has promised to extend the technology to the RTX 4000 series at a later date, but for now, it remains limited to the RTX 5000 series. Since the current real-time neural rendering model of DLSS 5 relies on FP8, it should run on the latest-generation GPUs. This raises the question of whether it’s possible to enable DLSS 5 NR on AMD RDNA 5 GPUs, which offer native hardware support for FP8.
Ancient Gameplays uploaded a video in which he enabled DLSS 5 NR on his Radeon RX 9070 XT in games such as Cyberpunk 2077. The process is fairly simple. For games like Cyberpunk 2077, you need to place the dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe file in the bin\x64 folder. Next, obtain the nvngx_dlssnr.dll file and place it in the same folder. After launching the dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe file, follow the basic instructions. Then, you can launch the game and enable FSR (FSR 3 or FSR 4). If you press the End key to close the overlay, you will need to relaunch the executable and select the “Update” (U) or “Remove” (R) option to enable or disable DLSS 5 NR in the game.
As demonstrated in the video, Cyberpunk 2077 ran at 80+ FPS on the RX 9070 XT without DLSS 5 NR. However, with DLSS 5 NR enabled, the frame rate dropped to 11–12 FPS. DLSS 5 does indeed cause a significant performance loss due to a lack of optimization. However, the modder has since released additional versions, including Alpha v0.2.7, which provides a 12% performance boost. This enables 30 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p. The modder also noted that DLSS 5 works with the RX 9070 XT in Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced using the same method.
