Lady Gaga Is a Mom – She Welcomes Her First Baby With Fiancé Michael Polansky

MOVIE NEWS – Lady Gaga and her fiancé Michael Polansky have welcomed their first child together, a source confirmed to PEOPLE. The 40-year-old Grammy winner has spoken repeatedly about wanting to become a mother, and only last year described motherhood as the “next starring role” she hoped to take on.

Lady Gaga’s fans have called her Mother Monster for years, and the nickname has now taken on an entirely new meaning. According to PEOPLE, the singer and her fiancé Michael Polansky have welcomed their first baby together. Gaga’s representatives did not respond to the publication’s request for comment, while Page Six was the first outlet to report the news. The couple has not yet publicly revealed the baby’s name, sex, or other details surrounding the birth.

Motherhood has been part of Gaga’s plans for a long time. Back in December 2019, while discussing what she hoped the following decade might bring, she specifically included starting a family alongside her ambitions in film. “I want to do more movies, I want to have babies,” she said at the time, making it clear that she did not envision the next stage of her life solely in terms of music and acting.

She spoke even more openly about the subject during a March 2020 interview with InStyle. “I will say I am very excited to have kids. I look forward to being a mom. Isn’t it incredible what we can do? We can hold a human inside and grow it. Then it comes out, and it’s our job to keep it alive,” she said. Gaga also joked that she had already occupied something of a maternal role for her fans through her longtime Mother Monster identity.

Motherhood Was the “Next Starring Role” She Wanted Most

That desire had not faded in the years that followed. During an October 2025 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Gaga talked about the possibilities she still wanted to explore and singled out motherhood as the one role she hoped would come next. “I would like to do many things. All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope,” she said.

Gaga and Polansky were first publicly linked in early 2020 after they were photographed kissing at a New Year’s Eve celebration in Las Vegas. Their relationship became Instagram official not long afterward, around the time of the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the two quarantined together, and a source close to Gaga told PEOPLE at the time that they were spending their days at her home and ordering food while isolating.

The couple has largely kept their relationship private in the years since, although they have continued to support each other’s work publicly. Polansky serves as executive director of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, while Gaga has advocated for mental health through her Born This Way Foundation since 2012. A source told PEOPLE in 2021 that their shared interest in charitable work had become one of the things that brought them closer and described them as a particularly strong team.

Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky Confirmed Their Engagement in 2024

Gaga publicly confirmed her engagement to Polansky in July 2024 during the Paris Olympics. While speaking with then-French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at a swimming event, she introduced Polansky simply as “my fiancé.” The exchange was captured in a TikTok video posted by Attal, turning what had previously been speculation about their engagement into a public confirmation.

The couple later appeared together at several major events, including the 2024 Venice International Film Festival, where Gaga attended the premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux. A source previously described Polansky to PEOPLE as sweet, supportive, and hardworking, adding that he understood and respected Gaga’s intense professional focus. According to that source, the pair functioned extremely well together both personally and professionally.

The arrival of their first child now marks an entirely new chapter in their relationship. Gaga and Polansky have not shared further information about the baby, and the singer’s representatives have not publicly commented on the report. Her own words over the past several years, however, make one thing clear: motherhood is not an unexpected detour in her life, but something she has consistently described as one of her most important personal hopes.
