Black Myth: Wukong Hysteria: You’ll Never Guess Where the Chinese are Making the Game Playable!

According to Daniel Ahmad, a famous industry analyst, spas and similar venues in China are creating areas where Black Myth: Wukong can be played…

Strange things are happening in China with Black Myth: Wukong, the action RPG that has taken the country by storm. Game Science sold more than 10 million copies in three days! This is also due to the fact that a real mania has erupted in China. A few days ago, we reported that several companies offer free play days. However, we didn’t expect that the game would be used as an advertisement for some specific establishment.

As famous gaming industry analyst Daniel Ahmad pointed out on X/Twitter, there are Chinese establishments (mainly hot springs/spas) that take advantage of the game’s popularity to attract customers. “A lot of these establishments have entertainment rooms where you can do karaoke, watch movies and play games,” he says of the multitude of such places.

“Families often spend days at these places, and the owners promote Black Myth: Wukong to attract people. According to Maituan’s latest data, the search volume for ‘Chinese baths’ on the platform has increased by 40%, and searches for keywords related to ‘night baths’ have increased significantly more,” explains Ahmad.

In addition to all this, it has also been reported that Chinese players playing Black Myth: Wukong will be able to visit tourist sites for free.

Black Myth: Wukong is a big hit

As the days pass and the game continues to increase its sales numbers, it seems that 10 million copies sold is just the beginning for Game Science. However, we can’t forget to mention that Black Myth: Wukong is the second most concurrently played game in Steam history. And as a single-player title, it is the first. In a way, this has also been good for Sony, as the game sold a million copies, making the PS5 the best-selling electronics item at Chinese retailers.
