Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a massive hit with its new modding tool, as players have already downloaded more than 1 million mods in less than a day. The official mod tool has yet to make its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

We’ve shared much about Baldur’s Gate 3 and Patch 7, which introduces official mod support for PC, with console support to follow in a few weeks. But we haven’t yet highlighted the incredible creativity of the community crafting mods for the 2023 GOTY-winning fantasy RPG. Within just a few days, players are fully immersed in the modding tool from Larian Studios, generating content that deserves recognition.

This mod tool has transformed Baldur’s Gate 3, making it a larger, deeper, and more customizable game. PC players can now access a mod manager that simplifies the installation process, allowing for quick and easy downloads. The impact of modding has even surprised Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios and director of Baldur’s Gate 3, who noted on his X/Twitter account:

“Modding is pretty big, we had over a million mods installed in less than 24 hours,” he shared (via Gamesradar). Currently, platforms like mod.io report that the fantasy RPG has racked up 1.4 million downloads today alone. Installing mods in Baldur’s Gate 3 enhances the experience, adding new cosmetics, playable classes, races, UI improvements, and XP multipliers.

Despite Patch 7’s release, it’s not the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. While features like cross-platform play and photo mode are still pending, it’s important to remember that the mod tool will also be arriving on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, potentially expanding the game’s modding community even further.
