Is a Nintendo Switch 2 Port for Diablo IV on the Horizon?

It seems likely that the announcement and release are close, as the latest installment of Blizzard Entertainment’s classic IP is set to debut on Nintendo’s new hardware.

Nintendo Switch 2 players have been waiting a long time for news about a Diablo IV port to Nintendo’s latest console. Rumors first emerged in early 2025, even before the Switch 2’s release, but Activision Blizzard remained silent. This year, however, two different rating boards have fueled fans’ hopes. The Indonesian rating board listed the latest expansion, Lord of Hatred, for the original Switch, which may have been an error, while the Taiwanese rating board listed Diablo IV itself for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is much more plausible.

These are solid clues, but reliable leaker billbil-kun has now provided much more specific details. According to the insider, Diablo IV will be released on September 15 or 18 for the Nintendo Switch 2. Blizzard will release a physical edition, but it will not be a Game-Key Card. It will simply contain a code inside the box, as has become common practice. The price will be €70. However, billbil-kun was unable to confirm whether Lord of Hatred will be included in the package. Finally, the informant speculates that the announcement will be made during Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live show. It will be broadcast on August 25 at 8:00 p.m. from Cologne, Germany.

This will not be the first time a Diablo game has been released on Nintendo hardware, of course. Diablo III: Eternal Collection was released for the original Switch on November 2, 2018. While it did not set any sales records, it is estimated to have sold around 700,000 copies. Following this, Blizzard released Diablo II: Resurrected for the Switch in September 2021 alongside the other platforms.

Switch 2 players have had to wait more than three years since the original base game was released in 2023, but at least they will get a much more polished game. Notably, Lord of Hatred introduced several noteworthy systems to the hack-and-slash action RPG while concluding Mephisto’s story.
