Rumor has it that one of the console companies is even willing to fund it in exchange for exclusivity… and since Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn’t do as well as Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) expected, there may be a reason for all this!

On Twitter, one of the hosts of XboxEra, Shpeshal Nick, tweeted what he’d heard: that Rocksteady Studios is reportedly making a new Batman game. It won’t be a remaster or a remake of the previous episodes, but something new, and Sony is backing it, so if the ‘Blues’ sponsor the development, it could be released for PlayStation and PC, but not for Xbox, or not until much later.

From that point of view, a return to Batman is logical, if we don’t forget the huge success of Suicide Squad, which Rocksteady had a great success with. Just look at the trio of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight. The only problem is that it’s just a rumor at the moment, and WBD certainly won’t say anything about it, as we’ve heard other rumors around the studio. (But many rumors have also suggested that morale at the studio is at rock bottom somewhere…)

Speaking of Batman: Arkham Knight, the 2015 game also received a Nintendo Switch port last year, but that was… but it had a very thought-provoking performance, with a frame rate of 0 FPS in some places, so it was frozen for at least a second, so bad on the Nintendo platform in 2017, Rocksteady’s game, which had previously been released on PC in abysmal quality, needed a lot of work to get at least THAT to an acceptable quality for the audience.

We don’t know exactly what Rocksteady is doing now, but we wouldn’t be surprised to hear that support for Suicide Squad will be shut down next spring: Kill the Justice League. The rumor is not official yet!
