Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Ubisoft Pulls Out of Tokyo Game Show!

The French publisher will not be exhibiting its game set in feudal Japan at the Tokyo Game Show, essentially pulling out at the last minute!

The other day, IGN’s Chinese website leaked the latest developer diary for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was then made unavailable. Since then, however, the publisher, led by Yves Guillemot, has announced that they will not be present at the Tokyo Game Show, which takes place from September 26 to 29. They’ve also pulled out of a demo for the press, so they won’t be able to try out the latest episode of Assassin’s Creed!

They should be able to do so next week, when the embargo is supposed to be lifted. While there is no official reason why they finally pulled out of the press preview, it’s likely that Ubisoft decided to do so because so much of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was leaked that there was little to no new details for the press. The Tokyo Game Show pullout was cited by the French company as “due to various circumstances,” which led to the cancellation of the stream scheduled for September 26.

Critics say the game inaccurately depicts Japanese history and culture. Still, there will probably be some kind of trailer for the game in September, but there will be no event behind it. Ubisoft has not been doing well financially this year, with its stock value dropping and Star Wars Outlaws and XDefiant not delivering the results they had hoped for, so it is no wonder that shareholders are also preparing for a change in management.

There have also been rumors recently that Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be delayed, and although the French publisher has been adamant that this is not the case, it would not be a big surprise if it were to happen if Ubisoft is pushed out of the Tokyo Game Show. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on November 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, Mac and iPad.
