Donald Trump Has Struck With Another Horror Movie “Reference”: Would He Really Do It?!

MOVIE NEWS – After Donald Trump’s latest unhinged rally, The Purge became extremely popular…

Donald Trump has made headlines for many reasons during his presidential campaign. But he made one of his most terrifying statements at his last rally on Sunday. He suggested that crime in the country could be ended in “one really violent day”. Of course, social media did what it does best, and in no time The Purge started trending on X/Twitter.

At the Pennsylvania rally, Trump launched into one of his often controversial speeches. In it, he talked about the state of the United States today and how it relates to migrants and the current administration. At one point in the release, a certain statement by Trump was interpreted by many as the former – and possibly future – president suggesting that The Purge should become a real event!

“Crime is at a level like we’ve never seen, it’s rampant. It’s rising. We have to let the police do their job, and if they have to be extraordinarily rough.”

“The liberal left wants to destroy [the police] and they want to destroy our country. You know, if you had one day, one real rough, nasty day with the drugstores, as an example.”

It wasn’t the only time Trump talked about his vision of “one really violent day” during the appearance.

Not long after, after asking his adoring audience what they thought would happen if such a day were to come, he once again mused aloud that all crime should end “immediately” in “one rough hour, and I mean real rough,” in fact suggested that Republican Rep. Mike Kelly could oversee it.

The Purge is trending again in response to Donald Trump’s comments

The Purge launched Blumhouse’s horror franchise in 2013, depicting a terrifying dystopian future where, for one night every year, all crime is legal, including murder. In the movie, the point of the “cleanup” is to reduce the country’s overall crime rate. It also serves to control the population, and the lower strata of society become targets for one night of horror. The Purge franchise has spawned four sequels and one TV series so far, and the latest, The Forever Purge, revolves around the theme of immigration.

Since the description of Trump’s potential solution to reducing crime is almost identical to this synopsis, it’s not hard to understand why many people took to social media to voice their disbelief.

It’s not the first time Trump has used a dubious movie reference during his campaign. After all, he has made similar “purge”-style suggestions in the past, and has also called Hannibal Lecter a “wonderful man.” Whether all this will help the former president regain his place in the White House in the November elections is questionable. Most hope it won’t be. But in this increasingly strange and changing world, it is very difficult to rule anything out.
