Nosferatu: the Fear of Vampires Returns! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Modern psychological horror master Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse) says in his new vampire film, Nosferatu we can finally fear the immortal bloodsucker again. “Now it’s gotten to the point where we’ve got Edward Cullen, who’s not a scary vampire at all,” the director told Total Film, referring to the anemic, depression-prone bloodsucker from The Twilight Trilogy, played by Robert Pattinson, who he confessed to hating the sketched character. “I was thinking about how we could get back to basics.” After all, vampires were so terrifying that the people of older ages dug them up and chopped them up, and then burned them at the stake so that not a trace of them remained.”

Eggers’ Nosferatu stars Bill Skarsgard as Count Orlock, and the actor was once again willing to undergo a major transformation for the special role. Under the guidance of an opera instructor, he was able to speak in an octave lower voice – in other words, sound gravely – and gained about 15 kilos to make his appearance even more imposing.

“I think it’s really up to us to have a scary, very smelly corpse again, who brings us the creeps,” explains Eggers, who thinks it’s no coincidence that it’s considered a moment of importance in film history , when Count Orlock rises from his coffin for the first time in Murnau’s classic 1922 Nosferatu.

Eggers presents a very serious star parade in his film. In the story set in the 19th century, Nicholas Hoult plays Thomas Hutter, a real estate agent who is unaware that his distinguished new client from magical Transylvania is a vampire who is looking for a new home in Germany in order to spy on the object of his desires, Hutter’s wife. (Lily-Rose Depp). Of course, Eggers also employs his other favorite actors in the film, namely Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin and Willem Dafoe.</p >
