The market of used games is vivid: in case you don’t want to buy a new game for full price (not caring about the used codes either), or you’re looking for games from the previous console generations (even some of our editors are into this collecting habit), then be glad you don’t live in France, because the French government has pulled out a surprising, or more like a disturbing move.

They want the reselling of used games to become illegal, so if someone wants to sell a copy of a used game, it would be penalized. With it, they want the gamers to buy new games for 60-70 euros, which can be even double the price of a used copy for the exact same game. Their reasoning is that the distribution of used games harm the developers and the publishers, because less new games are being sold, as the games are resold, perhaps several times.
This movement is supported by the Minister of Culture, Fleur Pellerin, who says that distributing of the used games equals piracy! She went as far as saying that she supports the personalized DRM, which means that if you buy a game, only you will be able to use it, trading the disc to another owner would mean that disc would be unusable for the second person.

With this, we have two issues: first off, if someone, who lacks the money to buy new games constantly, does he/she have to wait several months until the price drops, as it cannot be bought used? Also, what about older generation games, that you simply CANNOT buy as new? Did the French government even think about this? In our opinion, this move is disgusting
