BioWare’s game is due out in a few days, but some people have been secretly playing the latest Dragon Age game for a few weeks now, including one of the people at Larian Studios.

Michael Douse, Larian’s publishing director, recently criticized Ubisoft’s strategy after Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown failed financially despite great reviews. Douse has taken to his keyboard again, this time on Twitter, comparing Dragon Age: The Veilguard to a Netflix series you’d like to binge-watch.

“I’ve been playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard in total secrecy (behind my backpack in the office in front of a huge window, in the kitchen). You may be wondering, “Is this game compatible with my experience during Baldur’s Gate 3,” so I’ll approach it from that perspective. The answer is yes. It is the equivalent of a heavy, 9-season show to a well-made, character-driven, binge-worthy Netflix series. It has a good sense of propulsion and forward momentum. The combat system is honestly brilliant (to me, a mix of Xenoblade & Hogwarts, which is giga-brain genius). It knows when it needs a tentpole narrative moment, and it knows when to let you play around with your class and exploit some of its stronger elements.

More importantly, it feels to me like the first Dragon Age game that really knows what it wants to be. In short, if you want a character-driven romp with a strong combat system in a universe you know, love, or have heard of, this is a lot better than your average action game, and a lot less heavy than the massive RPGs that can be intimidating at times. In a word, it’s fun! For me, I’m extremely happy that BioWare will – presumably – stick around in these uncertain (due to stupid corporate greed) times. An existential game, and a fun one at that,” said Douse.

In other words, it’s going to be a game we’re going to have a hard time putting down. We’ll find out in a few days, because Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on October 31st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
