The game from Grinding Gear Games was released (launched?) on Steam Early Access on Friday, and it has achieved great success in a very short time.
Path of Exile 2 is a victim of its own success. We reported on this in the news the other day. There was so much interest in it that the infrastructure collapsed almost immediately. Nevertheless, GamesRadar reports that the long-awaited sequel is already showing excellent results on Valve’s digital platform.
At the time of writing, there are currently 397047 players in Path of Exile 2. That’s almost 400,000 people playing Grinding Gear Games’ creation at the same time. The previous record was 539149 concurrent players. By comparison, the record for the first Path of Exile was only (?) 230,000 players. With this result of over half a million, Path of Exile 2 ranks 15th. There’s still room for improvement if you want to get to the top, as PUBG: Battlegrounds, formerly PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has a record of 3 million 257248 players.
you've also brought down steamdb because everyone went to check it lol

This is followed by Black Myth: Wukong (2 million 415714), Palworld (2 million 101867), Counter-Strike 2 (1 million 818773), Lost Ark (1 million 325305), DotA 2 (1 million 295114), and Cyberpunk 2077 (1 million 54388). That’s seven titles with more than 1 million concurrent players, and almost as many as Elden Ring (FromSoftware’s eighth-placed epic has 95,3426 concurrent players). Path of Exile 2 will certainly be able to overtake a few titles, though. Apex Legends (624473) leads the way, followed by Goose Goose Duck (702845), Baldur’s Gate 3 (875343), and Hogwarts Legacy (879308). There are bigger names here, though.
SteamDB posted on Twitter that so many people have been checking out Path of Exile 2 that their site crashed due to tons of people wanting to play it!
