ThinkPad X1 Carbon Aura AI: Lenovo’s Laptop is World-First in a Feature!

TECH NEWS – The Chinese company’s laptop has come up with an innovation that’s sure to catch on in the future, but someone has to be first with this move…

Lenovo has unveiled its latest laptop, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and it’s got some good new features compared to its predecessor. The Aura AI in the model’s name means it’s the latest version, and it’s powered by Intel’s Lunar Lake processor, the Core Ultra 7 258V. We can expect two different configurations, and the difference between the two is in the storage (one offers a 1 TB NVMe SSD, the other comes with a 2 TB SSD). The memory in both cases is 32 GB with a dual-channel solution, but we don’t get 6400 MT/s (which the previous model had), but 8533 MT/s LPDDR5X RAM.

The previous model had a PCIe 4.0 SSD, but this one has PCIe 5.0, and the heat sink is clearly visible! This makes Lenovo’s the first laptop with a next-generation (and therefore blazingly fast) SSD. It’s not mainstream yet, so it’s a bold innovation from Lenovo, especially for a small and thin laptop. In China, the 1TB model will cost 16000 RMB (about $2200) and the 2TB model will cost 18000 RMB (about $2475). In North America they will certainly be cheaper.

Lenovo has also reduced size and weight. The previous ThinkPad X1 Carbon weighed 1.09 kilograms, but the Aura AI version weighs 978 grams, so it can get under 1 kilogram. Thinness has also been improved. Previously, the laptop was 14.96 millimeters “thick”, but now it’s only 14.37 millimeters. OK, it’s not that noticeable, but it’s an improvement. The battery is still 57 Wh, but with the Lunar Lake’s more efficient processor, we can use the machine for longer. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Aura AI can be used for up to 18 hours before the battery runs out (but only for certain tasks). The display hasn’t changed: a 14-inch (35.56 cm) OLED panel that can refresh at up to 120 Hz, has a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and a 500-nit HDR peak brightness, which is brighter than its predecessor.

It’s going to be a powerful laptop… at a price.
