HANDHELD NEWS – Lenovo has unveiled the Legion Go S, marking it as the first officially licensed third-party handheld powered by SteamOS. This portable gaming device features an 8-inch VRR-enabled screen, integrated controllers with adjustable trigger switches, and hall-effect joysticks. Scheduled to release in May, the SteamOS-based Lenovo Legion Go S will retail for $500.

Announced at CES this week as part of Lenovo’s Legion gaming lineup, the Go S will hit shelves in May 2025, starting at $499.99.

“This new handheld combines the advanced features of the Lenovo Legion Go S with the flexibility and console-like experience of SteamOS, Valve’s operating system designed specifically for gaming,” said Lenovo in a statement.

“With cloud saves that allow seamless transitions between PC and handheld gaming, Remote Play for streaming games directly from a PC, and full access to the Steam Store and Library, the SteamOS-powered Lenovo Legion Go S is a significant step forward for gamers seeking an operating system optimized for handheld play.”

Multiple Configurations and Future SteamOS Support

A Windows-based version of the Lenovo Legion Go S is set to launch this month, priced at $729.99. Additional configurations will be available alongside the SteamOS handheld in May, starting at $599.99.

Valve has also announced plans to expand SteamOS support to more devices in the future. Recently, the company released a limited-edition white Steam Deck, which sold out in just a few days.
