TECH NEWS – The head of Epic Games believes that the executives of the companies in question are pretending to be Republicans in order to portray their companies in a favorable light in the eyes of Donald Trump, the US president who will be inaugurated in a week and a half…

The second Trump administration is likely to take a more relaxed approach to antitrust, something Sweeney has been quite vocal against (he has brought such cases against Apple and Google). On Twitter on Friday, Sweeney was pretty blunt about the extent to which tech executives have tried to get away with antitrust violations, ripping off consumers and crushing their rivals.

“After years of pretending to be Democrats, Big Tech leaders are now pretending to be Republicans in hopes of currying favor with the new administration. Beware of the sleazy monopoly campaign to disparage competition law as they rip off consumers and crush competitors,” Sweeney wrote on Twitter.

Google and Apple have also caved to Trump. Both companies donated $1 million to his inauguration, and Tim Cook will reportedly personally deliver the donation to the long-serving new U.S. president. Sweeney sued Apple and Google for a reason: he wants to sell apps directly on Android and iOS, bypassing the App Store and Google Play Store, and circumventing the two tech companies’ payment systems (and their profit margins). He’s had some success in Europe, but the situation in America hasn’t changed much, and last year he said he would fight until he won the ultimate victory and blocked Apple and Google’s completely broken vision of the world.

According to law firm Skadden, aggressive antitrust enforcement is unlikely to disappear entirely. Lina Khan, chairwoman of the FTC, says she hopes Amazon and Meta will not get away with the actions against them. And what a surprise, they also spent millions of dollars to promote Trump’s inauguration, and Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, has relaxed Facebook’s content rules – obviously to please the new administration…
