Samsung’s Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs Have Been Awarded VDE “EyeCare Circadian” Certification

TECH NEWS – Samsung’s Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs have been recognized with the “EyeCare Circadian” certification by Germany’s leading electrical engineering certification body, the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE). This achievement demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to developing technologies that support natural circadian rhythms, promoting well-being and viewer comfort. “The certification further demonstrates our commitment to developing products that prioritize eye comfort and reduced visual strain, delivering exceptional image quality and a superior user experience,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business. – We continue to work on groundbreaking innovations that anticipate and adapt to the changing needs of users, deliver immersive entertainment, and maintain long-term comfort.”

The certification recognizes major models from Samsung’s Neo QLED and Lifestyle product lines, including select The Frame and The Serif devices. The evaluation takes into account six key criteria to determine whether a device qualifies for the certification: “Safety for Eyes,” “Gentle to the eyes,” “Flicker Level,” “Uniformity,” “Color Fidelity,” and the Circadian Stimulus (CS) index. These factors form the framework for evaluating visual comfort and circadian rhythm alignment.

At the heart of Samsung’s achievement is its Eye Comfort Mode, which automatically adjusts brightness and color temperature based on the time of day and ambient light conditions. By mimicking natural light patterns, the mode reduces eye strain during daytime viewing and helps create a restful nighttime environment by aligning with the natural rhythm of the human body.

This certification adds to the list of certifications for Samsung TVs, highlighting the company’s user-centric devices and features. Some members of Samsung’s Neo QLED series have previously been awarded the VDE “Circadian Rhythm Display” certification, while some Lifestyle TVs have been awarded the Glare-Free certification by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for reducing visual strain. In addition, several Samsung TVs have been recognized by Pantone Verified for exceptional color accuracy.
