PlayStation Launches Beta Program: Try PS5 and PC Games Before Anyone Else!

PlayStation has just announced a way for players to test PS5 and PC games before their official release. The Beta Program promises “a simpler, more unified way” to participate in upcoming PlayStation betas.

Today brings major news for PlayStation users, with multiple updates impacting the gaming ecosystem. On one hand, the PS Plus Essential catalog has been refreshed with three new games, including Dragon Age: The Veilguard. On the other hand, Sony has introduced an initiative that will excite players eager to get early access to upcoming PS5 and PC games as well as new features linked to the PlayStation experience.

As revealed on PlayStation’s official blog, the Beta Program aims to provide “a simpler, more unified way to register for upcoming PlayStation betas across a wide range of PlayStation experiences.” By signing up once, users can express interest in participating in early tests for PS5 and PC games, new PS5 features, PlayStation App functions, and even user experience updates on PlayStation.com.

How the PlayStation Beta Program Works

Joining the Beta Program does not mean players are obligated to participate in every test. Sony clarifies that “you only need to register once to express your interest in these various betas, and if you receive an invitation to a specific beta, it is up to you to decide whether or not to participate.” However, there are specific conditions that players must meet in order to link their account to the program.

Additionally, enrolling in the Beta Program does not guarantee access to all PlayStation tests. Sony has indicated that each beta will have a limited number of spots, meaning not every registrant will be selected. That said, interested players can now sign up for the Beta Program via the official PlayStation website.

PlayStation Offers 5 Free Days of PS Plus to Compensate for PSN Outage

Alongside the launch of the Beta Program, PlayStation has begun rolling out the compensation promised to PS Plus subscribers after the PSN outage in February. As previously announced, Sony is offering five free days of PlayStation Plus membership to affected players. The membership extension is being applied gradually, but many users have already confirmed receiving the extra days.
