Despite the release of the latest Indiana Jones story on Xbox and PC several months ago, Sony’s console is doing even better in terms of sales.
Xbox and Bethesda’s recently released PlayStation 5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the fastest-selling version when looking at all three platforms. That’s according to sales estimates compiled by Alinea Analytics, which show that more copies of MachineGames’ game are being sold on PlayStation 5 than on Steam and Xbox Series… even though it’s been out for months on Microsoft’s current-gen console and PC! If we align the release of the Xbox Series/PC and PlayStation 5 ports, Alinea says that in the first six days (as of April 23, 2025), 117.2k copies were sold on PlayStation 5, while 91.2k were sold on Steam (as of April 14, 2024). That’s an increase of 28%.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is estimated to have sold around 310,000 copies on Steam so far, and the PlayStation 5 version is expected to do even better. It is also likely that the game would have sold even faster on PlayStation if it had been released on the same day as the other versions last December. On Xbox, Alinea estimates that just under 5 million Xbox gamers have played MachineGames, although the vast majority of those are believed to have played through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass rather than purchasing the game.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released on Xbox Series and PC in December to positive reviews and has reached more than four million players, according to Microsoft’s official figures. The first-person, single-player game is set in 1937, between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. Players embark on a globe-trotting adventure to prevent sinister forces from discovering and harnessing an ancient power linked to the Great Circle. MachineGames is currently working on a story DLC called The Order of the Giants, which is scheduled for release later this year.
