TECH NEWS – Alphabet’s subsidiary has introduced a tool that turns complex language into plain English, but for now, it’s exclusive to Apple devices.
Google has launched a new feature in its iOS app called Simplify, designed to help users better understand complex text. Users can highlight any part of a webpage they find difficult, and a contextual menu allows them to tap the Simplify action. Instantly, the AI transforms the selected content into easier-to-understand English – without needing to switch between apps.
Powered by Google Gemini AI and developed by Google Research, Simplify aims to make technical language and jargon more accessible. The tool is particularly useful when reading medical, legal, or academic content where terminology may otherwise be too dense for the average reader to grasp.
With Simplify, users don’t need to turn to external resources or search engines to decode difficult terms. According to Google, early testing of the feature yielded positive user feedback, although the company admits there are still limitations and further refinements are necessary. At the moment, the feature is available only on iPhone, but Google is working to bring it to Android and desktop Chrome in the future.
Google’s goal is to help users better understand and contextualize written material, especially in areas where they may lack domain-specific knowledge. That said, the company also cautions that the AI must remain accurate – any errors in simplification could be misleading or even dangerous.
