TECH NEWS – What Nvidia is doing is a bit cheeky, as the company has already made a similar move before…
Nvidia is reportedly not releasing drivers for the RTX 5060 until May 19th, when the GPU officially hits the shelves. So we are ten days away from the release of the graphics card. It was unveiled last month alongside the RTX 5060 Ti. However, something about the performance of the GPU gives us a sinking feeling, as Nvidia is trying to make sure that gamers don’t know the true capabilities of the GPU before they can buy it.
So those who have pre-ordered the card or are about to invest in it will not have the chance to hear, see, or read the press reviews. According to Igor’s Lab, Nvidia won’t release the public driver until May 19th – which is when the card will be shown at Computex. A lot of tech-savvy press will be at the event, so they won’t be able to test the card right away. This has already been confirmed by Hardware Unboxed, and although they have already received several samples of the RTX 5060 to review, they won’t be able to publish the reviews due to the lack of the latest driver.
Context, Nvidia are trying to hide the RTX 5060, just as they did the 8GB 5060 Ti. The strategy here is to release it the week of Computex when most of the tech media are in Taiwan attending the show. They’re also blocking reviewers from accessing the driver early to evaluate the…

Since many gamers rely on technical tests before making a purchase decision, this will be one of the rare cases where the GPU will be released using only Nvidia’s own numbers – which are often quite misleading. Although Nvidia has promised a 25% increase in raster performance over its predecessor, this can only be confirmed when independent reviewers get their hands on the GPU and driver before launch. The card will have the same 8 GB of VRAM as its predecessor (albeit faster, GDDR7), but that much is already considered outdated nowadays.
That’s why the 8 GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti failed so badly. And maybe that’s why Nvidia doesn’t want to play fair with the press. They’re deliberately hiding it so that the media can’t analyze just how weak this graphics card really is. Nvidia pulled the same trick with the RTX 5060 Ti…
