TECH NEWS – LG Electronics has announced that its webOS-based Automotive Content Platform (ACP) will soon be available in Kia’s new European models. The solution, already successful in South Korea, will debut in the recently launched EV3, and later in the upcoming EV4 and EV5, as well as the updated Sportage, marking the first time LG’s innovative in-car experience arrives on the European market.
LG’s ACP is built on the webOS platform that powers more than 240 million LG smart TVs worldwide. With its proven and user-friendly smart TV OS, the car-optimized webOS provides quick access to a wide array of content and services tailored for both drivers and passengers, all specifically designed for the automotive cabin.
As a key part of the comprehensive software-based “LG AlphaWare” vehicle solution suite, the ACP redefines vehicles as “rolling living spaces.” Passengers can stream their favorite content directly on the infotainment screen, offering a user experience reminiscent of modern smartphones and smart TVs—while fully compliant with traffic safety regulations.
Kia’s European lineup will soon deliver an array of entertainment options, with access to platforms like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, LG Channels, Baby Shark World for Kids, Stingray Karaoke, Play.Works, Haystack News, and Vasari. Later this year, more apps—including Rakuten TV, Napster, and the German OTT service Joyn—will join the roster. With video streaming services usable only when parked, passengers can turn their car into a private cinema, setting a new standard for in-car user experience.
“By bringing our webOS smart automotive platform to Kia’s European lineup, we’re making it easier for consumers to enjoy their favorite content anywhere,” said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG’s Vehicle Component Solutions Company. “LG remains committed to expanding its partnerships and content offerings to deliver a superior passenger experience, entertainment, and complete connectivity.”
