Developer Sucker Punch Productions is celebrating the fifth anniversary of Ghost of Tsushima with the community, and all players can grab a free PlayStation avatar reward, complete with regional codes!
Since its release in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima has made a major impact on the gaming industry, with samurai Jin Sakai defending Tsushima Island from the Mongol invasion. Set in 1274, the game strikes a balance between beautiful exploration and intense combat, and even after five years, fans are still celebrating and awaiting its spiritual successor.
Ghost of Yotei was officially revealed at Sony’s State of Play in September 2024, quickly rising to the top of many wishlists. Early details introduced protagonist Atsu, her quest to hunt down the Yotei Six, her potential as a bounty hunter, and her break from the samurai code. While some fans hoped for Jin’s return, Atsu already looks to be a fascinating character to explore.
Sucker Punch posted a special anniversary message on Twitter, thanking the Ghost of Tsushima community and releasing three stunning comic-style, black-and-white Jin avatars – free for everyone using the codes below:
Americas: JMCP-KMTE-3HG2
Europe/Australia: 9M9T-ND7G-7H2A

The fandom wasted no time sharing their in-game screenshots and stories online, and the first-anniversary stats highlighted staggering hours spent with Jin’s adventure. Ghost of Tsushima stands alongside other open-world giants like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Horizon Forbidden West, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Jin’s story continues to be celebrated.
While players await Ghost of Yotei’s October launch, there’s no shortage of samurai action – titles like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Trek to Yomi, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice are well worth playing. Ghost of Tsushima has become a true open-world milestone with striking visuals and a stunning score, so expectations for Sucker Punch’s follow-up are sky-high.
