Jason Momoa’s Son Joins Dune 3 Cast – But Fans Remain Skeptical

MOVIE NEWS – Jason Momoa couldn’t hide his pride as he celebrated his son Nakoa-Wolf’s casting in a central role for Dune: Part Three, marking the teenager’s big-screen debut alongside his famous father in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic.

Jason Momoa had every reason to beam at the premiere of his latest Apple TV+ series, a show that has drawn Game of Thrones comparisons, as he revealed that his son Nakoa-Wolf will be making his film debut in Dune: Part Three. Father and son will share the screen for the first time, with Jason reprising his fan-favorite role as Duncan Idaho—a character who met a heroic end in the first adaptation of Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel. News broke in June that Nakoa-Wolf joined the cast for a key part, taking on the role of Leto II, one of Paul Atreides and Chani’s twin children, alongside Ida Brooke as Ghanima. The two young actors will portray the next generation of Atreides heirs, stepping into the epic saga’s spotlight for the third installment.

The teenage son of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet is in for a trial by fire, if his father is to be believed. “He’s about to get a rude awakening—it’s his first time entering the workforce. But he’s done it himself. I didn’t help him, and he’s earned this opportunity on his own,” Momoa insisted, determined to make it clear that his son won the role through merit, not family ties. He went on to praise Nakoa-Wolf’s confidence and drive: “You always want your kids to be better than you, and honestly, I think he is. I couldn’t have done what he’s doing at 16. I was still figuring it out at 19 on Baywatch, but he’s holding his own with Denis Villeneuve. We’ve raised our children to love themselves and be confident, and that’s exactly what he is.”

Dune: Part Three will adapt the events of Herbert’s second book, Dune Messiah, which jumps forward twelve years from the original. The upcoming film is expected to follow this time leap, exploring the next phase of Paul Atreides’ reign as Emperor. If Villeneuve stays true to the source material, Duncan Idaho’s presence in the threequel will be significant, despite his early demise in the first movie and his absence from Dune: Part Two.

Dune 3 Cast: Familiar Faces and New Rivals

Alongside Jason and Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, the cast for Dune: Part Three is shaping up to be as star-studded as ever. Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, with teasers hinting at a bold new direction for his character, while Zendaya is back as Chani. Anya Taylor-Joy reprises the role of Alia Atreides, and other core cast members—Javier Bardem (Stilgar), Charlotte Rampling (Gaius Helen Mohiam), Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), and Christopher Walken (Emperor Shaddam IV)—are all expected to reappear.

Perhaps the biggest shake-up comes with the arrival of Robert Pattinson, rumored to be cast as Scytale, the enigmatic Face Dancer from the Bene Tleilax. As a master manipulator and one of Herbert’s most notorious villains, Scytale is expected to lead a conspiracy against Paul Atreides, marking a dramatic turn for Pattinson as he trades Gotham’s heroics for the intrigue of Arrakis. The character’s introduction in Dune Messiah is widely considered one of the franchise’s most memorable, promising a major new threat for the Atreides dynasty in Villeneuve’s third film.
