Elden Ring Nightreign: The Duos Update Got Delayed Due to the Weather!

The developers aren’t behind schedule – they too are affected by the extreme weather. FromSoftware is asking players for patience.

FromSoftware has decided to delay the release of Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02, which was meant to introduce the highly anticipated duos mode. The reason is a tsunami warning following a powerful earthquake off the coast of Russia. The quake occurred early Wednesday near the Kamchatka Peninsula and triggered tsunami waves directed toward Russia, Japan, and Hawaii. Alerts have been issued for all regions.

According to CTV News, the quake measured 8.8 on the Richter scale—making it one of the strongest ever recorded—and generated a 13-foot wave that struck the shores of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island. While time has passed since the quake, Japan’s northern regions remain on high alert, while southern areas have downgraded the warning to an advisory.

“Due to the tsunami warning following the earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula, the distribution of the Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02, originally scheduled for today, has been postponed to tomorrow, July 31 (Thursday) after 10:00 CEST | 1:00 PDT. Additionally, the second cycle of Everdark Sovereign, which was set to begin at 3:00 CEST (18:00 PDT), will also be delayed until after the update has been fully distributed. Thank you for your understanding,” wrote FromSoftware on Twitter.

Although players awaiting the update might be disappointed, a tsunami is certainly a valid reason to postpone anything. (It’s also curious that the game was originally designed around solo play or trios without any official duo option.) Hopefully, the regions affected by the alerts won’t experience significant damage or injuries.

Elden Ring Nightreign is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
