The recently delayed open-world action-adventure game will be available both digitally and on disc. Of course, it’s out of the question for PC; nowadays, we only see this in one out of a hundred cases.
Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game set in the beautiful yet brutal world of Pywel. Players follow Kliff, the leader of the Greymanes, a band of battle-hardened mercenaries, who must fight to save the land from an impending catastrophe. As players explore Pywel’s vast landscapes, they will engage in intense battles, defeat formidable monsters, collect valuable loot, and experience the Greymanes’ journey with next-generation visuals.
“We are proud to work with Pearl Abyss to bring Crimson Desert to players across the globe. Our global footprint and experienced territory teams will provide fans with an incredible Crimson Desert experience. This collaboration is a testament to Plaion’s growing commitment to and strength in the Asia-Pacific region, and it highlights our ongoing mission to become a global force in video game publishing,” wrote Craig McNicol, CEO of Plaion Partners, in a press release.
“Plaion is already proving to be a strong partner for Pearl Abyss as we continue to grow in overseas markets. Partnering with Plaion, which has a global footprint, will allow us to bring Crimson Desert to even more fans around the world. We are pleased to partner with a physical game distributor that shares our ambitious vision of an adventure set in the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel,” added Kevin Kim, Pearl Abyss Chief Business Officer.
When Pearl Abyss announced the delay of Crimson Desert (which we reported on in more detail), the studio attributed the three-month delay to coordination and collaboration issues, as they requested additional time for offline distribution, dubbing work, and console certification. The offline distribution issue has been resolved thanks to Plaion.
Crimson Desert will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC sometime in the first quarter of 2026, i.e., by the end of March at the latest.
