A Russian retailer has unexpectedly listed a release date for Retro Studios’ highly anticipated title, sparking speculation that the launch could happen much sooner than expected. According to the leak, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond may arrive on Thursday, September 18. While Nintendo has yet to confirm anything officially, fans are already buzzing about the possibility.
Metroid Prime 4 was among the very first games announced for the original Switch back in the summer of 2017. A few years later, Nintendo shocked fans by revealing that development duties had shifted from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios, the creators of the original trilogy, effectively rebooting the project. For years, fans had nothing more than a logo and minor details, until last year when Nintendo finally released a full-fledged trailer showcasing gameplay, story elements, and unveiling the Beyond subtitle.
Although the release date of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has not yet been officially announced, the latest rumors suggest that the game could be in players’ hands within just a few weeks. If the September 18 date proves accurate, the gap between its announcement and launch would be remarkably short. According to the leaks, Nintendo is expected to hold a Nintendo Direct event in September, where upcoming titles will be highlighted — including Metroid Prime 4: Beyond — making it a likely venue for the release date reveal.
Nintendo has previously employed this strategy, most notably with the surprise release of Metroid Prime Remastered. Earlier this summer, some ads in the London Underground mistakenly claimed the game had already been released — a mishap we covered in the news. What makes this particular rumor plausible is the fact that Nintendo currently has no major releases planned for September 2025. Given the company’s habit of putting out roughly one exclusive per month, skipping September would mean missing a golden opportunity.
October is already reserved for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, while Kirby Air Riders is set to arrive in November. It’s also possible that Nintendo could decide to push Metroid Prime 4: Beyond into December instead of September, but for now, that remains pure speculation.
