Battlefield 6: Will It Achieve Outstanding Sales in Its Launch Week?

Strong projections have surfaced regarding pre-orders and early sales for Electronic Arts’ new release under its new ownership.

With just one week remaining until the launch of Battlefield 6, expectations are soaring. The public beta earlier this year was a massive success, signaling that this would likely be the most significant and impactful release in the franchise’s history. Now, new reports shed light on just how big the launch could be and the scale of success analysts are predicting.

The Game Business has published new statistics provided by Ampere Analysis. According to Ampere, Battlefield 6 has already surpassed 1.7 million pre-orders on Steam alone. This number does not include pre-orders placed via the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. Ampere further predicts that the game, developed by DICE alongside other Electronic Arts studios, could sell 5 million copies during its first week.

Other noteworthy figures include Newzoo’s estimate that 25 million people played the beta, while Ampere puts the number slightly lower at 22 million. Newzoo also reported that the Battlefield 6 beta peaked at 10.4 million concurrent players across all platforms — double the peak of Battlefield 2042’s beta, which reached 5.1 million players.

Although Call of Duty continues to significantly outsell Battlefield this year, the data strongly suggests that Electronic Arts is making a serious push to revive the franchise. It’s even possible that the next installment could surpass Call of Duty, especially if the latter continues to struggle with its ongoing identity crisis.

Just a few days ago, we reported on a new Battlefield 6 trailer ahead of the game’s October 10 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. In the trailer, Battlefield takes subtle jabs at Call of Duty — and it’s fair to say that Activision Blizzard’s (Microsoft’s) flagship IP is not as dominant as it once was.
