Lidl Hungary and WWF Hungary are bringing back the Lutra sticker album in a new form that combines nostalgia with environmental education. For every album sold, HUF 100 will go to the WWF’s forest habitat development programme.
The familiar childhood ritual of collecting and trading stickers is returning as part of a sustainability initiative. The redesigned Lutra album uses a shared family activity to explain why biodiversity matters, while buyers can also support practical conservation work: Lidl will donate HUF 100 from every copy sold to WWF Hungary’s joint forest habitat development programme.
Conservation content behind the stickers
Alongside protected animals from different continents, the album introduces endangered and extinct species. It also explains threats facing nature and presents planet-friendly solutions that children and their families can apply in everyday life. The idea is for collecting all 108 stickers to be more than a game and to provide an accessible introduction to biodiversity and nature conservation.
“At Lidl Hungary, we believe it is never too early to develop an environmentally conscious outlook. We are therefore particularly pleased to have created an album together with WWF Hungary that gives families a shared experience, encourages learning through play and draws attention to the importance of nature conservation. Alongside raising awareness, tangible steps are also crucial to us: for every Lutra album sold, we support WWF Hungary’s forest habitat development programme with HUF 100. We hope this initiative will help many children take another step towards developing curiosity about nature,” said Zita Szlavikovics, Chair of the Board of Lidl Hungary.
The project forms part of a broader partnership
The company’s sustainability work is built around five areas: climate protection, respect for biodiversity, conservation of resources, support for health and ethical operations. Lidl says it is reshaping its value chain around these priorities through measures including certified sustainable sourcing, pollinator meadows beside logistics centres, and donation and other programmes designed to reduce food waste.
When developing its product range, the retailer follows the principles of a Planet-Friendly Healthy Diet and WWF methodology. Lidl and WWF entered a global partnership covering 31 countries in 2024, focusing on biodiversity protection, reducing the effects of climate change and safeguarding natural resources, including water. In Hungary, the campaign is also connected to Lidl’s support for a habitat restoration project within the area managed by the Duna–Ipoly National Park Directorate.
“Nature conservation begins when someone starts to care about what is happening around them. That is exactly what the Lutra album offers: it brings nature closer to children and families through play while creating a shared experience. The Lutra album was WWF’s first activity in Hungary, and it is good to see a story spanning more than three decades continue in a new form. Many of the children from that time can now pass the experience on to their own children as parents. The new Lutra album does not stop at sticker collecting: with a year-round programme calendar and offline challenges that can be completed at home or in nature, we also encourage families not only to read and talk about nature, but to explore it and experience its beauty. Interest in nature becomes real change when it also appears in our everyday decisions. Companies have an important role in this. Our cooperation with Lidl is about precisely that: how a popular initiative addressing families can bring the cause of Hungarian nature conservation closer to people,” said Csaba Klacsán, Communications and Fundraising Director at WWF Hungary.
How the collection works
Customers receive one free pack containing five stickers after every purchase worth HUF 8000. A total of 108 different stickers can be collected. The album costs HUF 999, or HUF 799 for Lidl Plus users; an individual sticker pack costs HUF 149, reduced to HUF 99 with Lidl Plus. The promotion runs from 24 August to 30 September 2026, or while stocks last.
