“CD Projekt, sue them with all your might.” That’s how fans reacted when OpenAI’s new tool, Sora 2, managed to recreate a mission from Cyberpunk 2077 with eerie precision. The AI’s capabilities have sparked awe and outrage — and a growing number of players are demanding legal action.
Artificial intelligence is once again pushing the boundaries between human creativity and technology. In recent days, Sora 2 — a new video generation tool developed by OpenAI — has stunned the world by almost perfectly recreating an entire mission from Cyberpunk 2077. The clip, generated solely from a text prompt, has captivated and alarmed gamers alike, with many calling on CD Projekt RED to take the Californian company to court.
Unveiled on September 30, 2025, and currently available only in the United States and Canada, Sora 2 is an evolution of OpenAI’s generative video model. Its goal is to transform text descriptions into fully animated sequences — complete with movement, dialogue, and 3D environments.
One of the most striking demonstrations of its capabilities was the recreation of the “Queen of the Highway” mission, in which V and Panam patrol the Badlands in the Basilisk tank. What’s astonishing is that if you watched the video without knowing it was AI-generated, you could easily mistake it for an official gameplay excerpt. The AI didn’t just replicate the characters and the environment with stunning accuracy — it also captured the mission’s atmosphere and tone.
Fans Are Calling for CD Projekt to Take OpenAI to Court
The clip’s creator, Pliny the Liberator, showcased on X (formerly Twitter) how Sora 2 generated a 10-second sequence with nothing more than the prompt: “Generate a Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay with the Basilisk tank and Panam.” The result was a video where even the voices and lighting closely matched the original content — prompting many to describe it as “terrifyingly accurate.” Only a few minor mistakes were spotted, such as the tank rolling on wheels instead of hovering, or Panam appearing on top of the turret rather than inside the vehicle.
Yet this technical marvel quickly sparked controversy. A user named Constantin posted on X, urging CD Projekt RED to “sue the hell out of” those behind OpenAI to set a legal precedent. So far, the Polish studio has not issued any official response or hinted at legal action, but the debate over the legal limits of AI-generated content is intensifying.
This is far from the first time a major company has faced such a dilemma. Earlier this year, Disney sued AI firm Midjourney for generating unauthorized images of characters like Iron Man, Elsa, and Buzz Lightyear. For now, Sora 2 remains an experimental tool — but its ability to recreate complex content from a simple text prompt marks a major turning point for the industry.
