First Look: Timothée Chalamet Teases ‘Dune: Part Three’ Set Photo — And His Hair Hints at Time Jump

MOVIE NEWS – Timothée Chalamet just poured fuel on the hype for Dune: Part Three with a fresh set snap from Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy capper. The new chapter promises a major time jump from the 2024 film, with several cast members adopting dramatically updated looks. Fans are already buzzing that Chalamet may have shaved his head to embody an older Paul Atreides.

On Friday, Chalamet shared an out-of-costume image on his Instagram story captioned “DUN3 LOADING…,” seemingly confirming that cameras are rolling on Arrakis once again. While he isn’t in Atreides gear, the timing points to Paul shedding those signature brown locks. Drawing from Dune Messiah, the sequel is expected to lean harder into the saga’s sci-fi sweep while introducing a broad slate of new characters.

Cast: Returning Icons and Fresh Faces

Set 12 years after Dune: Part Two, the film brings back Chalamet (Paul Atreides), Zendaya (Chani), Florence Pugh (Princess Irulan), Jason Momoa (Duncan Idaho), Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck), Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica), and Anya Taylor-Joy (Alia Atreides). New additions include Nakoa-Wolf Momoa (Leto II Atreides), Ida Brooke (Ghanima Atreides), and Robert Pattinson as Scytale, the principal antagonist of Part Three. Pattinson next appears opposite Zendaya in the romantic comedy The Drama (April 2026) ahead of Dune 3’s December bow.

A Key Creative Shift Behind the Camera

Villeneuve again co-writes with Jon Spaihts, but one major change is confirmed: cinematographer Greig Fraser—who won an Oscar for the first film—won’t return, as he’s tied up on Sam Mendes’ Beatles event pictures. The torch passes to Linus Sandgren, himself an Academy Award winner for La La Land. Details on the new visual language are scarce, but one first is locked: Part Three will be shot on film. Known for bold color and punchy lighting, Sandgren is poised to deliver a different yet equally striking vision of the Dune universe.
