iPhone Air: Despite Alleged Low Demand, It Retains Its Price on the Used Market!

TECH NEWS – Examining the secondhand mobile phone market in the United States reveals that the slim iPhone model retains its value quite well.

The Apple iPhone Air is defying its impending death sentence and holding up quite well in the U.S. used phone market. WCCFTech recently compared the trade-in prices of the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 Pro Max on SellCell. The following search criteria were used for an equivalent comparison: 256 GB of storage, like-new condition, and the highest available price. The iPhone Air is currently listed on SellCellen with a resale price of $671. In contrast, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is selling for $827 on SellCellen. Note that the iPhone Air starts at $999, while the 256 GB version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199.

These figures represent a 32.8% depreciation for the iPhone Air and a 31% depreciation for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In fact, the resale prices of the two models differ by only about 2%, despite the negative news surrounding the iPhone Air in recent days. This is a surprising result, especially since recent reports have painted a bleak picture of demand for the iPhone Air.

As previously mentioned, a survey published this week by KeyBanc Capital Markets revealed virtually no demand for the iPhone Air and limited interest in foldable devices. Additionally, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that the Cupertino tech giant has asked its suppliers to reduce production of iPhone Air components by up to 80%. It will be interesting to see if the iPhone Air continues to hold its resale value.

Perhaps Apple’s bet on the glamorous, fashion-conscious audience will ultimately pay off for the company. In any case, if used iPhone Airs appear elsewhere around the world this quickly, it’ll say a lot.
