Retrace the Light: Time-Manipulation Action Adventure from China [VIDEO]

Developed by Xiamang Game and GlintForge, the title launches first on PC before heading to two current-gen consoles.

In the year 3323, psychological ailments like paranoia and obsessive thoughts can be treated from the inside out thanks to humanity’s crowning invention: Primus, a supreme artificial intelligence. After observing that intense emotions often precede irrational behavior, this all-powerful AI begins adjusting the minds of those it deems “unstable” to engineer a safer, cleaner future. To carry out its plan, Primus creates Enforcer Decem, a warrior who dives into bizarre digital reconstructions of paranoid minds—so-called Mirrormazes—to purge destructive thoughts. When a botched mission wipes Decem’s memory, he sets off to rediscover his purpose by tracking down memory shards scattered across a gleaming utopia, uncovering the dark truths beneath the world he was built to protect.

Carve a path through Mirrormazes where inner torment takes mechanized form. Decem leaves a temporary trail of light wherever he moves, and his Spatial Retrace power freezes time, letting him blink back to any point along that trail. Use Retrace to spring ambushes from unexpected angles and tackle brain-twisting puzzles that hinge on the limits of time and space. Face towering mechanical bosses with tactical poise and sharp spatial awareness, bending time and distance to Decem’s will. Build a personalized combat style with seven primary combat modules and twenty secondary modules, mixing light/heavy strikes, charges, counters, stances, and more.

Meet fellow Enforcers, learn their missions, and explore a striking world that swings from crumbling ruins to bustling cities. Piece together a forgotten past and decide humanity’s fate across five endings. Prefer the story? Glide through with minimal resistance. Want challenge? Tackle three difficulty settings tuned for both action veterans and newcomers.

Retrace the Light lands on PC November 20 for $18, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions to follow. It features English and Chinese voice-over, plus UI/text support in English, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. According to producer Lei Guo of Xiamang Game, it’s “a beautiful game where fast-paced action and inventive puzzles sit atop a compelling story about humanity’s future.”

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
