Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Has Been Delayed for the Second Time!

Skydance New Media has a history of postponing games based on Marvel (Disney) licenses, so it’s clear that they’re struggling to get development right.

Initially, the plan was for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra to be released in 2025. However, Skydance New Media first postponed the release until early 2026. Now, however, the studio is no longer sticking to this date. The team made a slightly more worrying announcement saying that the game has been postponed indefinitely. Anyway, let’s take a look at the announcement, which sounds apologetic.

“At Skydance Games, our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and worlds we’re fortunate to work with. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality our team, players, and fans expect. To fully realize our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026. We’re grateful for the passion and support of the community and players around the world. The team is working hard to create something special, and we look forward to sharing more as development progresses.”

This doesn’t bode well. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has another problem: it’s unclear on which platforms the game will be released. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are probably out, but PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC are realistic possibilities. Of course, this could still change if Skydance delays the release once or twice more.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t turn out like Prey, released in 2006, or Duke Nukem Forever, released a few years later. Both needed over a decade to reach the finish line.
