GTA 6 Delay Deepens: PC Release Might Slip to 2028, and Fans Are Not Amused

“It will not arrive before 2028.” The GTA 6 setback is already painful, yet PC players may have the most reason to groan. Many missed the implication that Rockstar’s shift to late 2026 could leave the PC version in an especially awkward spot.

The bombshell hit everyone, even those who expected it: GTA 6 has been delayed for a second time. Rockstar’s open world was initially penciled in for May 2026, but the publisher has moved it to November 19 to target a cleaner and more stable launch that the franchise and its fans deserve. The catch is obvious: some now fear the PC edition may not show up until 2028.

The original end-of-year window would have been crucial for PlayStation, which hoped to partner with Rockstar for a holiday push. Players were already worried the PC build would not reach Steam, Epic Games, and other stores until late 2026, well after consoles. This latest postponement only ramps up community anxiety.

“Can’t wait to play it in 2030,” joked Reddit user Material2975. “If Rockstar’s pattern holds, the PC version lands in late 2027 or early 2028. Thanks, I hate it,” added 4InchesOfury. “We are all disappointed, whether you saw it coming or not. The new wait begins,” wrote another commenter.

History suggests Rockstar’s games take at least a year to reach PC. Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived one year and ten days after its PS4 and Xbox One debut. The worst case was even tougher: GTA 5 launched on September 17, 2013, for PS3 and Xbox 360, while the PC version didn’t appear until after the PS4 and Xbox One cycle, more than 2 years later.

Bracing for the worst, user Traiklin quipped, “It will hit PC in 2029.” “My therapist is tired of hearing about Rockstar,” lamented Miserable-Sleep-2644. For many, the gap drains the early excitement and leaves PC players trailing console audiences.

Others note the GTA 6 delay could reshape the industry calendar. Its absence at the end of 2025 leaves a gaping hole in release plans. A second shift may push studios toward launches in early 2026, while the new date could scare off late-2026 contenders. For now, it remains speculation.
