A fresh PlayStation event is on the way, so get your calendar ready: we finally have a date and time to learn which games are coming to PS5 with Sony’s latest big push. The company has confirmed State of Play Japan, a showcase dedicated solely to Asian titles, airing tomorrow, November 11, at 11:00 PM (Spanish peninsular time).
Sony is kicking off the week with a bang by announcing an unusual broadcast. This isn’t one of PlayStation’s regular shows, but rather an event called State of Play Japan that, as the name implies, focuses exclusively on projects developed in Japan and across Asia. If you’re curious about what’s being built for PS5 in that region, note that the stream goes live tomorrow, November 11, at 11:00 PM (Spanish peninsular time).
According to the official PlayStation Blog, State of Play Japan will feature a wide range of titles, from beloved franchises to distinctive indies. “From classic franchises to unique indie titles, the event — hosted by voice actor Yuki Kaji [Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan] — will be packed with great games, interviews, and new looks at highly anticipated titles.” The show will run for roughly 40 minutes and will be streamed live on PlayStation’s YouTube channel.
PlayStation Doubles Down In Asia
So what might appear at a Japan and Asia focused event? If we’re talking fan-favorite franchises, we could get a tease of the much anticipated third chapter of Final Fantasy VII Remake — though its reveal could also land at The Game Awards — or something from the already announced Resident Evil 9: Requiem. Even so, all signs suggest we’ll see a healthy slate of brand-new games, aligning with one of Sony’s latest industry moves.
The breakout success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong has pushed major publishers to look beyond Japan as the only Asian powerhouse releasing ambitious games. In fact, Sony launched the China Hero Project to support promising teams in the region with funding, training, promotion, and access to international publishers.
State of Play Japan neatly fits the strategy of strengthening PlayStation’s presence in Asia without focusing solely on Japan. Who knows, perhaps new blockbusters — in the vein of the acclaimed Monkey King adventure — will move forward thanks to this Sony-backed momentum. For now, mark the date and time, grab some popcorn, and get ready to see what’s brewing on the other side of the world.
