Elden Ring Nightreign: The Publisher Has Confirmed that New DLC Is in the Works!

Although FromSoftware’s game has sold well, it hasn’t performed as strongly as the Elden Ring DLC.

Kadokawa, FromSoftware’s parent company, released its results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025. In May, FromSoftware confirmed that Elden Ring: Nightmare had sold over 5 million copies. This is an impressive result, especially for a multiplayer spin-off; FromSoftware primarily develops single-player titles. Kadokawa has confirmed that Elden Ring: Nightmare has far exceeded expectations. However, Kadokawa’s game division’s total sales have decreased compared to the previous year. Although sales of Elden Ring: Nightmare were strong, they were not strong enough to surpass the impact of last year’s Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

In the slide presenting the game segment, Kadokawa confirmed in the future outlook section that FromSoftware is developing Elden Ring: Nightmare‘s DLC, which is scheduled for release by the end of the current fiscal year. Since its release in May, the game has been updated with a new Duos mode, more challenging boss fights, and a new difficulty level, making the game harder for those who want more of a challenge. Nevertheless, saying that post-release support has been below average would be an understatement for many players. Many have left negative reviews on the game’s Steam page, specifically referring to this issue. One player who spent over 166 hours in Nightreign left a negative review on Steam, stating:

“As a longtime FromSoftware fan, I genuinely love Elden Ring: Nightmare, but the state of this game is a joke. The post-launch support is practically nonexistent. It’s been months since the release, and there’s been no new boss, no new map, no new characters, and no events. For a game of this scale, that’s embarrassing. My girlfriend and I spent many hours on this game at first, but once we finished it, we had no reason to play it again. The game feels abandoned, and the players who supported it from day one are being ignored. The developers need to step it up. If this is the level of effort they’re putting into Nightreign, I fear for the future of Duskbloods. At this rate, why should anyone trust or invest in their projects?” the review claims.

Perhaps the DLC will be revealed tonight during Sony’s State of Play Japan broadcast, which starts at 2 PM Pacific.
