Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Achievements Added After 21 Years!

It’s hard to believe, but Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, developed by Relic Entertainment, was first released in 2004. How time flies!

None of the four versions of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, including the Steam versions and earlier CD-ROM versions, included achievements until now. This only applies to the recently released version, though; the GOG version also includes achievements. The full list can be found in Thursday’s blog post on the Steam News Hub, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect.

There are achievements for winning battles and multiplayer matches in each faction, seeing all the different story campaign endings, and more, such as killing 666 Space Marines while playing as a Chaos Marine. There’s also an achievement for deploying relic units, such as the Greater Knarloc and the Bloodthirster, in games. This has always been exciting, even if the matches weren’t long enough to make it possible.

None of these seem particularly unattainable, provided we can find enough opponents online to earn all the multiplayer achievements. There is also The Grim Darkness of the Far Future, where you must kill 40,000 enemy units. The new achievements do not take into account previous progress. Since the developers used a 21-year-old game as their starting point, they didn’t have many existing statistics available. They added the statistics in the latest patch to support the achievements. You just need to complete a campaign to earn points. If you’ve already played through one campaign, you only need to replay the final mission to check it off your list.

Four versions? Yes, the base edition was released in 2004. The second is The Complete Collection, which includes the base game and three expansions. The third is the Master Collection, which includes the base game and the three expansions. The fourth is the Anniversary Edition, released last September, which includes achievements.
