Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake: Are We Very Close to Its Release?

According to a rumor, the release of the remake announced almost six years ago is quite close.

The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be released sooner than some expect. The latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly revealed that the remake of the 2003 action-adventure game will be released soon. A Video Game Podcast, revealed that they had learned the release date of the remake of the 2003 action-adventure game. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming has reported that Ubisoft plans to release the Prince of Persia remake before the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake. Sources close to the game say that the remake will be released in mid-January 2026. Sources also say that the game will likely be unveiled at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025, which will be early morning on December 12 in this time zone due to the time difference.

The development cycle of The Sands of Time Remake, announced in 2020, has been turbulent. Originally scheduled for release in January 2021, Ubisoft postponed it to March 2021 in December 2020. A month before the March release date, the game was postponed again, but no new release date was announced. The French publisher then remained silent for a while before announcing in May 2022 that Ubisoft Montréal had taken over development. After Ubisoft Montréal came on board, the game underwent a reboot. This included a more realistic approach to the game’s graphics, animations, and combat and parkour mechanics. Two years later, it was revealed that Ubisoft Toronto had joined the development team and that the game was scheduled for release in 2026.

The situation is interesting, to say the least, because the development of the remake has been messy. If the project ends in spectacular failure—and, given Ubisoft’s current state, there’s a good chance it will—we’ll just laugh about it.
