The Game Awards Mystery Takes A Sharp Turn – The Statue Isn’t God of War, But A Fan-Favorite RPG Just Became The Top Suspect!

The mysterious statue teased by Geoff Keighley continues to puzzle gamers, but one thing is now certain: it has absolutely nothing to do with God of War, despite early speculation. With two major candidates ruled out in just 48 hours, fans are now rallying behind the idea that the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls VI may be the one gaining ground as anticipation for The Game Awards intensifies.

Excitement surrounding The Game Awards 2025 is reaching new levels. Often called “the Oscars of video games,” whether the community likes that comparison or not, the event has grown into the industry’s largest showcase, packed with announcements that frequently overshadow the awards themselves. This year, a mysterious statue standing somewhere in California has ignited even more speculation, hinting at a reveal planned for TGA 2025—yet nobody knows what game it belongs to. Even the director of God of War confirmed that it has no connection to Kratos, Atreus, or any future entry in the saga.

Once the statue appeared online, theories exploded in every direction. Early guesses lacked much logic, but when its physical location was pinpointed, fans began analyzing every detail of its shape and design. Slowly, the possibilities narrowed as new clues and seemingly convincing evidence surfaced.

Initial theories pointed toward a Diablo 4 expansion or even a new chapter in Sony Santa Monica’s God of War series. Some also linked the statue to Saros, an upcoming PS5 exclusive, while others immediately thought of The Elder Scrolls VI, especially because the crocodile-like creature with humanoid arms resembles the Daedroth from Oblivion.

The Geoff Keighley Statue Clues Don’t Add Up

These early assumptions were quickly debunked. Jez Corden from Windows Central confidently claimed it was tied to Blizzard’s ARPG, but Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier swiftly dismissed any connection to Diablo 4. With that theory gone, many fans returned to the God of War hypothesis—until Cory Barlog clarified that the statue has nothing to do with the franchise.

This leaves The Elder Scrolls VI as a leading contender, although we still know very little about the current state of Bethesda’s massive RPG, and even less about whether Todd Howard’s team is ready to show anything. Meanwhile, alternative theories—such as a new DOOM or a Dark Ages expansion, which might logically fit given the game’s recent release—continue to circulate. With the two strongest candidates ruled out, uncertainty is higher than ever.

Still, one thing is clear: The Game Awards 2025 will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 2:00 AM in Spain. Whatever this mysterious statue ultimately represents, it has already become one of the most talked-about lead-ups to the event. And at theGeek, we’ll be following it live to uncover whether the reveal truly lives up to the hype.
