LG UltraGear evo: Gaming Monitors Powered by AI Upscaling

TECH NEWS – While pricing remains under wraps, LG has officially unveiled its new UltraGear evo gaming monitors, bringing AI-powered image enhancement into the spotlight.

LG Electronics recently announced its UltraGear evo lineup and has now revealed full technical specifications for five upcoming models. Among them, the 39GX950B clearly stands out as the flagship of the series.

The 39GX950B is a massive 39-inch (99.06 cm) OLED gaming monitor featuring a 5K2K resolution and LG’s fourth-generation Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology. By using four stacked red, green, and blue layers, Tandem OLED significantly boosts brightness and image clarity. The monitor offers dual operating modes, running at 165 Hz in 5K2K or 330 Hz in WFHD resolution. Its curved panel enhances immersion, while AI-based upscaling further improves visual quality.

The 27GM950B targets the high-end segment with a 27-inch (68.58 cm) 5K Mini LED panel and 2,304 local dimming zones for precise brightness control. It also supports switching between 5K@165Hz and QHD@330Hz modes and includes the latest connectivity standards.

The 52G930B claims the title of the world’s largest 52-inch (132.08 cm) 5K2K gaming monitor, offering a 240 Hz refresh rate. Although it lacks a secondary display mode, its aggressive 1000R curvature and modern ports aim to deliver a premium experience. LG has not disclosed the panel type, though IPS or VA is expected.

The 32GX870B is the world’s first 32-inch (81.28 cm) 4K OLED gaming monitor with AI-powered resolution enhancement and a 240 Hz refresh rate. Like its siblings, it uses a Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel and features dual modes: UHD@240Hz and FHD@480Hz.

Rounding out the lineup is the 27GX790B, positioned as a mid-range option. It offers a 27-inch QHD (2560×1440) display with a 540 Hz refresh rate, which can be pushed to 720 Hz at HD/720p resolution.

LG will showcase the UltraGear evo monitors at CES, where pricing details are expected to be revealed.
