According to Nvidia’s CEO, People Who Criticize AI Are Deeply Conflicted! [VIDEO]

TECH NEWS – Jensen Huang says we shouldn’t speak negatively about artificial intelligence. This is his message to those looking to upgrade their PCs.

While the development of AI has sparked optimism in the tech industry because it has revolutionized the human workload, there is still enormous skepticism among the general public that AI will lead to unemployment because it will replace many types of human work. In an interview with No Priors, Nvidia’s CEO calls this view a catastrophic narrative. He argues that it is harmful to speak negatively about AI. More importantly, he says that those spreading this narrative are not ordinary people but rather CEOs who influence governments.

Huang did not mention any names, but he said that companies pushing for AI regulation are completely wrong. Judging by this, he was probably referring to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who has advocated for AI regulation and claimed that the technology will replace half of all white-collar jobs. The two CEOs have openly criticized each other in public, so it is likely that Huang was referring to Amodei. Huang argues that AI regulation hinders progress, whether it involves controlling chip exports or impeding AI development. He believes that, despite forces within the industry trying to slow down AI development, the technology is already helping in several key areas and that further AI development is now necessary.

“It sounds like this conversation is really important. It’s extremely hurtful, frankly. I think we’ve done a lot of damage with well-respected people who have painted a doomsday narrative. I appreciate that many of us grew up enjoying science fiction, but it’s not helpful. It’s not helpful to people. It’s not helpful to the industry. It’s not helpful to society. It’s not helpful to governments. Many people in government are obviously not as familiar with or comfortable with the technology.

Just two years ago, people were talking about slowing the industry down. But as we advance quickly, what have we solved? We solved grounding. We solved reasoning. We solved research. All that technology was used for good, improving the functionality of AI. The end has not come. It has become more useful. It’s become more functional. It can do what we ask it to do. The first part of product safety is that it performs as advertised. The first part. The first part of a car’s safety is that it performs as advertised. It’s not that someone is going to jump into the car and use it as a missile. The first part of a car is that it works as advertised,” said Huang.

There’s no doubt that AI is becoming increasingly mainstream, aided by significant investments, the construction of data centers, and, of course, computational advances brought about by Nvidia and AMD. AI is entering a world divided into multiple layers: generative, agent, physical, and many more. From a broader perspective, the primary goal of these developments is to automate elements of human labor and improve efficiency metrics. At least, that’s what Huang says.
