According to a leaker, Square Enix will abandon the timed PlayStation exclusivity that we saw with the first two parts.
Reliable insider NateTheHate, who accurately predicted the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase this week, has made another prediction. This time, he is talking about the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the Nintendo Switch 2. More importantly, he is discussing how Square Enix will launch the marketing campaign for the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remake. He says that it will not be a PlayStation exclusive title at launch but will be available on multiple platforms from day one.
In the latest episode of NateTheHate’s podcast, while discussing predictions for tomorrow’s Partner Direct Showcase and what Square Enix might reveal, NateTheHate predicted that today’s Nintendo Direct would announce the release date for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the Nintendo Switch 2. This follows his comments last week about the release period for Rebirth on the Switch 2. He predicts it will be released in June, around the time of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest event. Why is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 amid all the Summer Game Fest hype? According to NateTheHate, the Summer Game Fest event will be the perfect opportunity for Square Enix to discuss the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remake.
In recent months, Square Enix has said that development of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is progressing very well, and the company is almost ready to share more information about it. The company has also expressed their excitement for players to try the game once it is finished. Director Naoki Hamaguchi, for example, was happy to report that Square Enix managed to implement an emotional and important scene in the third game. Hamaguchi believes the third game will offer players a new gaming experience and satisfy veteran fans and newcomers alike.
If the insider is correct and we see the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trailer and the Nintendo Switch 2 release date at the Partner Direct event, then hopefully he is also correct about the completion of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. Sales of the first two games were unnecessarily hampered by their PlayStation exclusivity. Since both games will be available on all major platforms before Part 3’s release, it makes sense for Part 3 to launch on all platforms.
