King Art Games and Deep Silver have slightly adjusted the release date for the new Dawn of War game, which will ease the flood of releases in September.

Originally scheduled for 17 September, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has been pushed back to 3 December. This means there will be one fewer major release in September and at least one more in November 2026, following the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI on 19 November. Players who purchase the more expensive Commander Edition will be able to start playing on 30 November.

“We’ve made the decision to move the launch to 3 December. Like many of you, we were looking forward to playing the game in September, but we really believe this is the right decision and that the additional time will be worth it. The response to Dawn of War IV has been amazing. You’ve watched our Faction Trailers and Battlefield Reports, and thousands of you have played the game in multiple community playtests and shared your feedback. All of this has helped us to shape the experience, and we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far.

We know from your feedback that the game feels right and that we have captured what makes Dawn of War so special. So why the delay? It’s because we need the extra time to incorporate more of your feedback into the game, fix bugs, improve performance and refine the overall experience. We want to deliver a game that lives up to our ambitions and your expectations. We want to ensure that every player has the best possible experience from day one. Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue to show you what we’re working on and explain how your feedback is shaping the game. There’ll be more Battlefield Reports, more gameplay and deeper dives into different parts of the game. We’re also sharing an updated Year One roadmap today so you can see how all our post-launch content now lines up with the new launch date,” said Game Director Jan Theysen in a video update.

The Crusade mode and the first map pack will be released early this year, followed by the second pack featuring Lord Ahnmok (Last Stand, Crusade). In early spring, the Blood Ravens story prologue will be released, followed by the mission editor and the third map pack. The fourth expansion, featuring Guzcutta (Last Stand, Crusade), will be released next, followed in the summer by Aftermath, which includes a story expansion and a new faction. This is the update schedule for the first year.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will launch on PC on 3 December, with the Commander Edition available from 30 November.
