The rumors were right again, so Sony is preparing another information bomb for February, just as it has done in recent years.
As the reliable insider NateTheHate predicted two weeks ago, Sony has announced that State of Play will air on February 12 at 11:00 p.m. Hungary time – which will likely dominate our news coverage on February 13. Unlike Nintendo’s most recent Partner Showcase Direct (which focused exclusively on third-party games), this presentation promises attention-grabbing third-party and indie titles for PlayStation 5, alongside the latest updates from PlayStation Studios. The show will run for over an hour, featuring more than 60 minutes of news, gameplay, and announcements.
We already know that Saros, Marathon, and Marvel’s Wolverine are at least three major games that PlayStation Studios is targeting for 2026. We can probably rule out Naughty Dog, especially if the 2025 rumors are accurate and the studio’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, won’t arrive until 2027.
Guerrilla Games also seems unlikely to be a major focus – mainly because we heard from them recently with the announcement of Horizon Hunters Gathering. Still, they could show a bit more of the co-op project, given it’s set to enter closed beta testing later this month. Bend Studio is also unlikely to reveal anything, considering the team went through layoffs last year after its live service project was canceled. The same applies to Bluepoint Games, whose God of War live service game was scrapped in early 2025. It’s possible the studio has another project ready to show, but that remains uncertain.
As for who might show up, one of the most obvious candidates is Sucker Punch Studios, which could follow up the success of Ghost of Yotei with Ghost of Yotei Legends, announced at Gamescom as a return to the multiplayer mode associated with Ghost of Tsushima. Sony San Diego will also likely get a few minutes in the spotlight, with MLB The Show 26 set for release on March 17.
We may see more of the already-mentioned Marvel’s Wolverine – or, if Sony wants to push things a bit further, a hint at what other Marvel projects Insomniac Games might be working on. It would also be exciting to finally hear from Sony Santa Monica and learn what Cory Barlog has been building.
Third-party reveals are a whole different question, because almost anything can show up – including Pragmata, Resident Evil Requiem, 007: First Light, Forza Horizon 6, Monster Hunter Stories 3, and Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls.
