[SOP 2026] Rev. NOiR Is Konami’s New RPG With a Veteran Producer [VIDEO]

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced Rev. NOiR, a new RPG in development for PlayStation 5, produced by Nobuki Kadoi, who previously worked at Square Enix on projects including Drakengard 2, Lord of Vermillion, and Gunslinger Stratos.

Konami Digital Entertainment officially unveiled Rev. NOiR during Sony Interactive Entertainment‘s State of Play broadcast, confirming the project as a brand-new role-playing game currently being developed for PlayStation 5. Alongside the first public reveal, Konami released a teaser trailer and launched a teaser website, offering an initial look at the game’s world and overall tone.

The story is set in a world drenched by a deadly phenomenon known as light rain, which brings death to anything it touches. In this bleak setting, a solitary boy suffering from amnesia meets an unusual girl, and the two set out to stop the catastrophe – convinced that their journey can save the world and the girl as well. The game frames the conflict as a question of forces: is it fate granted by the gods that prevails, or the strength of will born from humanity? Their travels will ultimately shake the world, as players are tasked with unraveling the will of the heavens and weaving threads of hope in this entirely new RPG experience. For now, much remains deliberately mysterious, with Konami saying more details will be shared in future announcements.

Rev. NOiR is a brand-new JRPG. The game is being developed by passionate members – myself included – who have long loved JRPGs. Encounters with comrades, growth, and moving moments are what define JRPGs, and we aim to place those elements at the heart of the story. We hope you’ll feel the excitement of the beginning of a new adventure. The trailer shown today is only a tiny taste of the game. We’ll be sharing more updates, so please stay tuned!” said Kadoi.

Given Konami‘s track record, it would be no shock to see Rev. NOiR appear on additional platforms later, but there is no concrete information yet on where and when that might happen. In fact, the Japanese publisher has not even provided a release timeframe for the PlayStation 5 version, so this is not the kind of project where a day-and-date launch window can be expected anytime soon.
