Steven Spielberg Says Life Beyond Earth Is Certain

MOVIE NEWS – There is no doubt intelligent beings exist elsewhere in the universe, says Steven Spielberg.

That is what his new film Disclosure Day is about as well. After many years, the Oscar-winning director is returning to one of his favorite subjects, once again putting the relationship between humans and aliens under the microscope. It is not yet known whether the big summer production will deal with friendly or hostile visitors. Spielberg’s track record has been positive so far: in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the emissaries from distant galaxies did not want to harm humans. In War of the Worlds, however, they very much did – and that incident required Tom Cruise, the U.S. military, and a virus to eliminate the threat.

“I’ve always been fascinated by things that don’t have a sensible explanation, and I’ve made a bunch of films about them, from sharks all the way to flying saucers -“ Spielberg says in a video published on the official site of Universal Pictutures (the distributor of Disclosure Day). “- Even as a little kid, I used to scan the night sky with curiosity because I wanted to know what might be happening up there, and I considered it not merely likely, but absolutely certain, that life exists beyond this planet.”

The stars of Disclosure Day are Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo, while the screenwriter is David Koepp, with whom Spielberg made Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds.
