Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja made two separate announcements for Dead or Alive: Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, while a brand-new Dead or Alive project is also in development.
Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round is being framed as the definitive edition of Dead Or Alive 6. The publisher says the base game sold over 900,000 copies worldwide and the free-to-play version surpassed eight million downloads. This new release builds on that foundation with an updated version designed for modern hardware and a content lineup that goes beyond a simple re-release.
Last Round includes the original roster of 24 characters, but it also folds in five fighters from the game’s DLC selection: Nyotengu, Phase 4, Momiji, Rachel, and Tamaki. On top of that, Kasumi and Marie Rose are getting a total of five new costumes inspired by other Team Ninja titles, including references to Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor’s Edge and Dead Or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation. There’s also a brand-new Photo Mode meant to let players capture their favorite fighter from virtually any angle, with features that include selecting the character’s position and pose.
Hardware upgrades are only part of the story. Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round will let players carry over content from the standard Dead Or Alive 6 release, including downloadable content, premium tickets, and save data. A free-to-play version, Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round Core Fighters, will launch simultaneously with the paid standard edition. At launch, the F2P lineup will include Kasumi, Marie Rose, Honoka, and NiCO, and players will also have access to Photo Mode as well as online modes like DOA Quest and DOA Central. Further post-launch updates are planned across the coming year for both the standard and free-to-play versions, including new costumes and new characters, with more details promised soon.
The release date is set: Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round launches on June 25, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, priced at €40 (around 16,000 HUF). The free-to-play Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round Core Fighters arrives the same day.
The second announcement points to what comes next. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja confirmed a new title currently without a public name, referred to as Dead Or Alive New Project. What’s fixed at this stage is the platform: it’s being developed for PlayStation 5 as a 30th anniversary project for the franchise. The original Dead or Alive debuted in Japanese arcades on November 29, 1996, and this new effort is positioned as the series’ milestone release – even if the “7” label remains unofficial for now.
