TECH NEWS – Lenovo is telling partners to move fast: get orders in before March pricing kicks in – and this is not a one-off situation (just look at Asus).
More manufacturers are signaling price increases, and the world’s largest PC maker, Lenovo, is now joining that list. The twist is that this is not simply about when an order is placed: delivery timing can also determine what price ultimately applies.
According to CRN, Lenovo has set clear deadlines for partners who want to avoid the upcoming changes. Wade McFarland, Lenovo’s North American channel chief, urged partners to submit orders as early as possible, ahead of new pricing tied to parts of the IDG (Intelligent Devices Group) commercial portfolio – including PCs, tablets, and smartphones.
Delivery Timing Could Trigger Repricing
The policy shift is being linked to elevated DRAM pricing, which is said to be impacting both Lenovo’s IDG and ISG (Infrastructure Solutions Group) operations. McFarland laid out the key point in a message to partners: “Orders received by Lenovo before February 28, 2026, but not shipped by March 31, 2026, will need to be repriced. Pricing is influenced by order and fulfillment timing, and Lenovo periodically reviews pricing in response to evolving market conditions.”
In practice, that means new prices may still apply even if an order is accepted by February 28, as long as it is not shipped by March 31. That is why timing is becoming critical for partners. The guidance is to place orders by February 25, giving distributors enough runway to submit them to Lenovo by February 28.
Lenovo North America president Ryan McCurdy said the company had to adapt and will need to keep adapting, a reality that makes planning harder for partners. One major partner, speaking anonymously, said the risk is straightforward: Lenovo can accept an order, fail to deliver it on time, and then apply a new price once repricing is triggered.
McFarland also detailed tighter quote windows. Quotes will be valid for 14 days on Lenovo’s internal quoting platform and 30 days on its external platform used by resellers, including distributors and solution providers. He added that the ISG unit has already begun recalculating pricing on certain deals, a move he confirmed directly.
Price hikes, price hikes, price hikes.
